Cycle the Alpine Loop :)

I never would have seen me doing this, even last year.  Susie and I went the day before and rode the Alpine Loop in her Jeep to see what we had to face.  The whole ride we kept saying "this really isn't that bad." We kept thinking it wasn't that steep and it wasn't that far.  The next day we took of from the mouth of American Fork Canyon and yes it was steep and hard and far.  11 miles of uphill to the top but we made it and it felt so good!  The ride down was hard and cold.  Holding the brake for so long and freezing breeze coming at you! But you can't beat a good downhill run! Cycling is by far my favorite sport at the moment.

Mountain Biking Moab

Moab was the so fun!  We all had a blast! Mountain Biking was harder than I thought. I had a great 3500 bike I rented.  It was really fun but it felt uncomfortable because I didn't know what it could do.  I fell once and flew over my handlebars.  We biked around slick rock and then did another ride at Dead Horse Point.  They were both really neat and the views in those canyons were just beautiful.  LOVED IT!  The whole family except Jess went and the Wilkeys came with us.  We even got to rock climb with their cars.  LOveD it!

Hiking Timp!

14 miles round trip and 8 hours later, I was home in time to take my girls to dance and conner to football.  Fall hiking Timp was beautiful.  The waterfalls, the colors and the mountain goats were all great company. I went with my friend Susie and we had a wonderful day.  The way back was a little long and my toes were really hurting but we made great time and the next day I felt fine again.  Mark another one off my list!

The Red Rock Relay!!

I have to say I thought this would be a breeze! I so wanted to start the race that I picked the first leg.  That gave me the 13th leg and the 25th leg automatically. I was only suppose to be running a total of 10 miles is one day. EAsy CheEsy Right!  WROng..........It ended up being really hard.  My first run started at the bottom of Brian Head ski lift at 7:00 am. We had to get up at 5:00 am to make it on time and I hadn't sleep well at all the night befor. (prerace jitters) I was all ready to go and bundled up in my emergence blanket like a tinfoil dinner when they told me my start was being but off another 25 minutes.  That sucked because I was pumped and ready to go.  Finally I rode up and ran down.  It ended up being a very rocky downhill trail with a little up and straight aways.  I had practiced running down dry canyon so I conquered that run well.  It ended up being 4.02 more than stated. (or I took a wrong turn). My next leg also got delayed by 45 minutes.  We were all so fast they hadn't set the course up enough for us so I ended up taking off at 5:25.  It was a 90 degree day so it was hot.  I was running on a highway with heavy after work traffic.  Many intersections were I had to wait for cars and such.  This run ended at 3.9 miles.  My last and final run was at 3:15 am.  It was suppose to be 3.5 miles but ended up being a little over 5 miles and it was almost all up a really steep hill.  This was a really tough run for me because I hadn't slept for two nights straight and I HATE hill running.  I pushed through and never walked and made my way up that dang hill!!!
My van was super fun.  I loved all the women we raced with and had many adventures I'll never forget! Southern Utah is a beautiful country.  I think I'll not run for a week or two and get to where I want to go for a run because right now I'm not feeling it!

Wake Boarding at Lake Powell

I did it!!!!! I got up at least 8 times this past weekend wakeboarding. I also stayed up and actually skimmed along the water for minutes at a time! I can't say I loved it. It was hard and scary and I didn't exactly have the proper form BUT I'm going to keep doing it and get better at it.  Everyone says I will then really enjoy it. We will see but for know I'm counting it as ONE of my 50 by 50!  By the Way our spontaneous trip to Powell was a blast.  We camped at Hite marina in the motorhome. We played really hard for two days and then came home. LOVE lake POWELL!

I ran my half marathon

I ran the park city half marathon yesterday.  Everyone told me it was a really hard marathon and it was.  I was exhausted afterwards but so happy that I finished and made pretty good time considering it was 7 miles uphill and then 6 miles down.  It was beautiful and great weather.

Learn to cook Bread really good!

I fell I have pretty much conquered this one now. I was making a lot of bread until this heat wave hit. Now I have no desire to turn on a hot oven or eat hot bread. I'll practice more in the fall but for now. I happy with my progress!

Training for the Half Marathon!

Well here I am only one month away from my half marathon. I feel like I can do it! I just haven't been training the way I thought I would. I love biking and hiking so much right now that I hardly have time to run. I still fit it in twice a week. I just don't do my long runs very much. Oh well I'll do the best i can and that is all I can do!

Wicked!

Finally I got to take the girls to San Fran to see wicked! It is my absolute FAVORITE broadway show! I saw it for the first time in New York City 5 years ago. Last year it came to Utah and I went with my girl friend and paid way too much for the sold out show. We couldn't afford to take the three girls too. But in San Fran we got front row balcony tickets for 30 bucks each! The cast in San Fran was really great! Nikki and Sid loved it. This was their 2nd big show. We saw Lion King last year. I want to take them to a show every year. Hopefully in the big city again sometime soon! Anyways mark that one off ny list :)

Today was the first day since the turkey run that I ran outside. It was hard. i only went 2.5 miles and I was dying! At least I'm not starting off as bad as last year but still I was up to 13 miles and now barely made it 2.5! Hopefully I'll have lots of warm days to practice before my half marathon.

Learn to cook Bread really good

I got Sid a cooking lesson for Christmas and had to get on for me because she needed a ride! It was at Thanksgiving Point. It was so funny! We did learn two great dough recipes and I'm excited to try them out. You don't have to Knead any of these breads so that is exciting! Sidney and I were laughing through the whole class because we just kept thinking it could be a Saturday Night live skit. #1 The teacher was very dry and boring for one. #2 WOW it's amazing how many times the same question can be asked in one cooking class and #3 how crazy most of the questions were. The food was Yummmmmmy though!
Haven't mastered the bread thing yet but getting closer!

Current with all scrapbooks

I finally got out all the scrap books for the last 20 years. Wow what a collection. I have books for every kids with hours upon hours of work. I am trying to organize them all right now and find a nice storage place for them. I have tried keeping them in all the kids rooms but then I took them all and stored them in the garage. That was dumb because we never looked at them. I am trying to find a nice book shelf to store them in down in the family room. I also realized I'm not as far behind as I would of thought. Maybe I'm just not taking as many pictures as before! So my goal this week is find a BOOKSHELF!

We also have been going to aerobics together every morning. Strength training in the winter and then we will start training for the triathalon again in early spring! She would be mad at this pic but it is the only one I have!

Sidney recieves her Young Women Award

Sidney recieved her Young Womens Award at the age of 15. YAY!! We worked on it every Sunday for ever. I am so proud of her for accomplishing this at such a young age! YAY! She is the greatest daughter ever and this probably shouldn't be on my list but it was important to me that she recieve it!

Temple

Besides going to the temple 100 times, I want to get Scotty there more and my kids. I also want to see different temples. So I have been twice since the New Year. So I'll be keeping track in this post and posting pictures ot the temples I attend.

Hiking Angels Landing!

So first off my list was hiking angels landing! Scott and I snuck away for a day for our anniversary and drove to Zions. I was really nervous for this hike. Not because it was a hard hike but because of how high and steep it was. The using of chains on steepness and the fact that 3 people have died in the past 18 months didn't help. I was really proud of myself for doing it and it was beautiful up there!

50 by 50

Here it is....my list! Now that I made this list a few months ago I find myself thinking of other things I should of put on my list. I think I'm going to stick with the 50 I have and get to work. I've accomplised a few of these so far. I have a few that have to do with my kids and husband but because they are my life work I tried to do personal things that would help me rediscover the Sandi that turned into wife and mother so many years ago. Not that I don't love that role, I'd just like to mesh the two more! :) So wish me good luck on this adventure and I'll be posting my efforts!
